Electric Company Cars

toc impalement

Firms strive to be pioneers. Whether trying to be instruments of industrial or social change, they like to set a fine example for everybody else to follow.

The use of the company car is a good example of this. There have been mostly positive reports of businesses phasing out petrol and diesel vehicles and instead utilizing electric counterparts. Benefits are said to be social and financial, and more firms have stopped revving their engines and started charging their batteries instead.

Of course, some electric company cars will undoubtedly outshine others. Here’s a quick list of worthy electric vehicles (EVs) that make suitable company cars for your workers.

Tesla Model S and Tesla Model 3

There are a lot of controversies around Tesla cars. Elon Musk isn’t a universally loved public figure, and there have been exaggerations about how well these vehicles perform.

The Tesla electric vehicles have paved the way for all other EVs to follow. They came first, so in terms of brand recognition, they are likely the most trustworthy and certainly the largest and most experienced EV player. Your business must be seen to be supplied by the most recognizable and reputable names, and in that respect, Tesla might be your winner.

Moreover, Tesla claims to have sold a record-breaking 1.3 million vehicles last year, a rise of 40% in sales figures compared to 2021. While the true nature of these figures may be up to debate, given the prior accusations of exaggerations, it’s still likely that more of these cars will be sold and leased as the world turns to more eco-friendly transport.

The Tesla Model S and 3 are most suitable as company cars. The former was one of the first EVs to ever go on sale in a mainstream capacity. Tesla claims its range reaches 405 miles, and the vehicle can go 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds. Model 3 boasts similar offerings but is more affordable. Once again, the specific performance numbers may vary, but the cars are sure to perform nonetheless.

Skoda Enyaq iV 80

Teslas are known to be a high-brow option when it comes to electric company cars. It’s not always the image firms want for themselves, even if it’s attainable.

ElectriX mentions the Skoda Enyaq iV 80 as one of the pricier options for EVs, as it sits in the £41,000 range. For more information here’s the ultimate electric car guide from them for more information.

They mention various pricing options so vehicles like the Skoda can fit your budget, with leasing options, grants, and loans all detailed by them. Electrix shares everything you need to know.

Once you know you can afford a Skoda Enyaw iV 80 as a company car, you can appreciate its other benefits better. It’s a family SUV, which means others can enjoy the vehicle too.

Of course, you’d have to pay company car tax if you enjoy the vehicle for personal use, but if you or your employees can afford those charges, this car could be ideal for company use. If you’re only going to use the vehicle for solo professional journeys, you’ll at least have more storage space.

The size of the Skoda serves its functionality well, too. Its larger battery pack means you can travel up to 331 miles of range before recharge. Safety is a primary concern of the manufacturers too. There are light and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, and lane-keep assist features built into the EV as well.

Kia Soul EV

Kia Soul EV

The Kia Soul EV has a good balance of style and substance. It’s also an upgrade of the Kia E-Niro, so you can be sure it’s not the worst company car out there.

There are many great features to enjoy here. Blind-spot monitoring, high-beam assist, and LED lights ensure complete road visibility. Emergency braking is autonomous, and there’s adaptive cruise control and keyless entry systems for added sophistication. If that’s not enough, heated steering wheels and seats are also included, ensuring maximum road comfort. Reports indicate that the EV handles exceptionally well, too.

Here you can enjoy a range of up to 280 miles. The EV is rapid-charging friendly, with 77kW needed for the car to jump from 10-80% charge in 45 minutes. There’s a lot to love about the Kia Soul EV.

Peugeot e-208

Touted as an electric car for the city and boasting a sporty design, the Peugeot e-208 can feel more modern than its rivals. That feel can make it a great fit for a company car, giving workers access to a slick experience.

The Peugeot e-208 can cover up to 225 miles. It will take an estimated 30 minutes to recover the 80% range. Therefore, you shouldn’t be inconvenienced overmuch in running the vehicle.

There’s also a 3D heads-up display and a 10” touchscreen to note here. You’ll have access to interesting data about your driving experience, giving you more insight into how you use the EV. There’s a feed for risk areas and real-time traffic reports too. You can also customize the screen to your liking.

It should be noted that the Peugeot e-208 doesn’t look like an EV. It’s because there’s a regular counterpart where petrol and diesel engines can be chosen too.

The appearance could be an asset if workers are apprehensive about driving an EV, but it could also be a detracting aspect of the vehicle if you’re keen to show off your firm’s green credentials to others. It all depends on your perspective.

Electric Fiat 500

Are there any vehicles more commonly cherished than the Fiat 500? Many road users drive the petrol and diesel versions of the car, but the manufacturers recently released an electric counterpart too.

The fact that there’s some level of familiarity with Fiat 500s can be a perk. EVs can be handled differently and take a while to get used to. Still, there will be elements of the Fiat 500 that perhaps resonate a bit better with your workers. Fiat 500s should also be cheaper to procure, as they’re not as flashy as other EVs.

Late last year, the electric Fiat 500 was billed as cute, funky, and fun. These could be important facets to consider, especially when the business world is bleaker than ever before.

A charismatic EV for a dreary time could give you and your workers a morale boost and give the working days a bit more color and character. It’s a great way to help others think of you as more relatable and human, too, rather than a high-flying CEO.

Of course, fiat 500s were never the most well-performing vehicles on the market, and the electric counterpart is similarly humble in that regard. You won’t pick up speed very quickly, and you’ll enjoy an estimated 100 miles of range, owing to the 24kWh battery.

If you opt for the larger 42kWh battery, then this EV can reach up to 170 miles. It takes an estimated 34 minutes to reach 80% charge in public settings. Still, the electric Fiat 500 is a charming option for a company car used for local trips.

Conclusion

There are many good EVs that are worthy of being used as company cars. While they can vary in range, charge, and style, your workers would no doubt be thrilled to drive any of the cars listed above. After all, the future is electric, and so long as you’re playing a part in embracing that prospect with the company cars, employees will likely be happy.
