Furthering your own employability is often easier said than done. You want your prospective employers to look over your CV and see a candidate who they are actively interested in, rather than having to appeal to them and always feel as though you’re the underdog. Getting to this spot sounds simple, but the reality of getting there can often present you with many hurdles.
A path forward that you might find appealing is acquiring more qualifications to make you a more skilled and attractive candidate for the jobs you apply for. Not only that, but these skills and the experience of acquiring them could be one that leads you to achieve a better understanding of the kind of ideal career that you would want to pursue.
Career Specific Qualifications
Maybe you already have a pretty good idea of the kind of direction that you want your career to take, in which case you already have a head start and don’t have to worry about trying to whittle down the options. However, you still have the problem of finding the ideal course for your career, something that you might want to be thorough with given the kind of time and cost investment involved in such a decision. Perhaps, for example, you feel as though business is the right destination for your ambitions. In this case, you might be interested in researching the Kelley School of Business Leadership and Change Certificate.
Fortunately for you, studying for these kinds of courses is easier than ever thanks to the advancement of technology, which allows remote learning to not only be a viable option, but one that might not offer many downsides compared to its physical counterpart. Of course, there are positives and negatives to both of these, but you’ll likely have a pretty good idea of which direction is right for you. Simply knowing that you have options in this regard is enough to make the whole idea more appealing, as having autonomy over these decisions can give you a greater sense of control in your life.
The General Qualifications
While you might have a specific career in mind which can have its own related qualifications to get there, you might also be interested in another available route. In this latter case, you might want to improve your general employability by finding qualifications that would be useful in a wide variety of contexts. Again, the direct pay-off for these might seem more nebulous, but they could also be qualifications that lead to a greater degree of application in your daily life.
A good example of training that suits this category is that of first aid training. Many workplaces would react positively to seeing a candidate who is trained in first aid, with many jobs even seeing it as something that could be essential, but it goes further than that. Going through the hoops and finding yourself qualified in this regard could mean that you’re more prepared to resolve a first aid emergency in your day-to-day life.
