In short, think 15 seconds on average, although you can record for a minute. Users borrow from a library of available music, sounds, and other effects to spruce up their videos.
In other words, it’s built around a youth audience that businesses often struggle to reach. The nature of the content itself also challenges the norms of marketing.

1. Determine If TikTok Makes Sense for You
TikTok is the next big thing in social media, but that doesn’t make it the right thing for you. Things to consider:
- Is your ideal customer 35 or under?
- Is your brand or product trendy?
- Do you have the resources for managing a new channel?
If you didn’t answer yes to all of these, TikTok probably isn’t right for you. At least, it’s not at present.

Odds are good that you already work a tight niche in your other marketing. Extend that niche persona onto TikTok. If you’re the brand that caters to Doctor Who Knitters on Instagram, make that your niche on Tiktok.
There’s a solid chance your niche group is already on the site, waiting to hear from you.
